2012: A Year of Pivotal Change

2012 promises to be an "interesting" year. We predict that the Occupy movement, which has already changed our national conversation, will continue to make headlines. While campaigning for reelection President Obama has already adopted some of the language of the 99%. Whether or not Occupy protests translate into legislative reform may well be decided by voters on election day, November 6.

This past December, the nations of the world made fitful progress toward limiting greenhouse gas emissions at the international climate talks in Durban, South Africa. The earth is still getting hotter, but global cooperation may yet prevent widespread disaster. We shall see!

December 21, 2012 marks the end of the ancient Mayan Long Count, thought by some to signal worldwide upheaval. Is this just another date on the calendar or some grand cosmic harbinger?

Indeed, 2012 should prove to be interesting. "May you live in interesting times" can be taken as a curse or blessing, depending how nimbly you adapt to change. As one OPEN EXCHANGE lister told us, "I'm making positive affirmations so 2012 will be the best year ever!"

To support positive change, OPEN EXCHANGE offers a wealth of news and views, services and events. This publication is your invitation to participate: to embark on an adventure, improve your health, make new friends, join a greater community of like-minded individuals. We invite your comments and feedback, too. After all, it wouldn't be an "open exchange" without YOU!

Here's to a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year... through all the seasons' changes!
