| Test-taking Strategies For Success Norman Prince offers his services as the Test-taking Coach. Students who are new to test-taking, going through mid-career retraining, and whose second langauge is English all have raised their test scores through Norman's experienced assist. Here are some of his success stories: I have been an educator for several decades, teaching workshops (through OPEN EXCHANGE and others) and college courses and tutoring individuals. My greatest satisfaction has come from the success of people I've tutored on standardized test preparation and from feedback and results from recent workshop participants. I tailor my tutoring to each individual by determining that person's strongest learning styles that s/he will use in our work and in the future. We then work on anxiety-reduction and nutritional preparation, followed by strategies, setting goals and working to meet those goals. A recent Speed Reading and Speed Learning workshop that I designed and taught at Stanford University resulted in outstanding improvement and evaluations from participants. A GMAT workshop that I designed and taught at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA resulted in 11 of the 18 participants getting the scores they needed to qualify for admittance to the MBA program. Other successes have included a client whose 380-point improvement on the (2400 point scale) GRE enabled her to gain admission to a Master's program at Harvard after she had gotten no improvement from a GRE course at one of the major test prep companies. Six of my recent tutees have increased their scores between 160 and 250 points on the 1600-point version of the SAT-1. Their official starting scores ranged from 970 to 1290 and their official ending scores ranged from 1130 to 1520. Three past tutees have increased their scores 400+. I also work with graduate students in Traditional Chinese Medicine, helping them to pass their comprehensive exams in acupuncture, herbs and diagnostics and their national and state boards. This is especially satisfying since I am able to help these students in about four hours, in areas where I am not familiar with the subject matter. A seventh grader, with whom I spent 10 hours on study skills, increased his grade in social studies from D to B and his science grade from C to B+.
