| Transformation Made Easier through Reiki
A Reiki Master, Meg Siddheshwari Sullivan, RN, MS, founded the Reiki Center of the East Bay in 1992. (Find this longtime OPEN EXCHANGE lister under Reiki Center of the East Bay in Health & Healing.) Meg's lifelong commitment to inner growth and her warm enthusiasm make her a skilled healer and teacher. She will lead a workshop, "Revising (or Creating) Your New Year's Resolution," April 23. One of Reiki's greatest powers is its ability to support changes in people and bring a feeling of new life. Here is the story of how Reiki supported my own preparation for 2005. As usual before a recent meeting with Norman, my life development coach, I sent Reiki to the session for the highest good. I was dealing with time management, and Norman suggested I take a retreat day before the end of the year. I balked at that. My little mind reminded me of how busy I am; besides, a whole day retreat sounded so serious! After a short time, I noticed joy bubbling up in my heart at the thought of a whole day to myself to prepare for the coming year. I decided to do the retreatand to make it fun. Setting aside time to plan for the retreat day, I wrote in my calendar: "play with ideas for retreat." I started my planning session with a short Reiki treatment and was inspired to include the element of fun among the other components of the retreat day: reviewing the past year, appreciating myself, getting exercise, spending time in nature, setting goals and calendaring events for the coming year. Despite the fact that I usually loathe goal-setting and planning, the schedule I created for the retreat stirred delight in my heart. The day of the retreat, I was upset about a very difficult interaction I had had with someone I love dearly. I was in no mood to do the things I had intended. In times past, I would have just scrapped my plans. Instead, I did Reiki on myself to help clear my emotional state, and I sent Reiki for the day as a whole. Immediately, I felt an inner conviction that I needed to do the retreat and that I should start by writing about the upset. Doing so cleared my mind and allowed me to do self-inquiry. Afterwards, I still felt sad but also peaceful. I could move on. The rest of the day, I followed the schedule I had created, even though I was starting late. The day flowed beautifully and naturally. I kept checking in with my intuition and received a clear answer every time. By the end of the day, I felt great appreciation for the inner growth and accomplishments of the previous year. I had my calendar of events set for 2005, and I was excited about accomplishing the inner and outer goals I had set for myself. Reiki took me beyond resistance and other difficulties to a day filled with light, and it helped me plan a whole new year that is bound to bring healing to many people! |
