Serenity At Shambhala Ranch
Shambhala Ranch Retreat & Workshop Center, returning longtime OPEN EXCHANGE lister, offers luxurious accommodations in Mendocino County. Shambhala Ranch is an Inn with a specialty in serving smaller groups, for a retreat experience in a rural setting. The ranch has vegetable farming, ornamental gardens, fruit tree orchards, farm animals and timber. It is not affiliated with any particular religion or philosophy and is nonsectarian. It is oriented for a nature experience. It is our hope for all to respect and enjoy the natural environment. The name "Shambhala," chosen by the previous owners, comes from a legendary Himalayan kingdom in Tibet where there was a harmonious society. Located near the Coastal Town of Mendocino, in Northern California, this secluded Retreat Center specializes in groups. Our secluded and natural environment is ideal for vacations, workshops, seminars, company retreats, weddings, parties and family reunions. We have served small groups focusing on business, team building, education, dance, relationships, health and religion, women's and men's gatherings, yoga, and meditation. The amenities there make you feel as if you are in the lap of luxury in a beautiful rural valley community. The custom-built ranch house has panoramic views, large decks, two fireplaces, hot tub, commercial kitchen, music throughout, multimedia meeting room and a solar energy system. Shambhala Ranch is a special place to have a Country Reception or Ceremony such as a Wedding, Bar Mitzvah, Anniversary, Private Party, Holiday Celebration, etc. The land has a unique ability to facilitate the intimacy and closeness that can make an exceptional event. The Ranch is a great place for Family and Friends to stay while overflow guests can sleep in the quaint coastal Village of Mendocino or Orr Hot Springs. There are mqny things to do and enjoy while visiting or retreating to Shambhala Ranch. This includes visiting the bucolic town of Mendocino, the wild North Coast and Orr Hot Springs down the road. The owners, Stuart & Tara Marcus, purchased the land in 1993 and immediately began remodeling and improving the facility. Tara is from London and Stuart is from New York City. The remodeling has been completed. They take particular pride in functioning in harmony with the natural environment. Many native plants have been used for landscaping and natural materials have been used for buildings. Conservation and maintenance of an ecologically sound environment that is clean and organized are values that have been maintained. They care about preserving the pristine quality of the land and the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood. They feel that this is a special place in a wonderful County.
