OZ Organic Farm, With "Field to Table Dinners"

OZ Farm, a rustic retreat center on the Mendocino coast.

OZ Farm has found a new way to share the bounty of the farm and surrounding area with food lovers. In addtion to feeding 27 families with its community-supported agriculture (CSA) subscription, sharing produce at the Gualala Farmer's Market, and supplying local restaurants, last year the farm kicked off its series of OZ Farm local food dinners to great fanfare. Farmer Patrick Cordrey and chef Aaron Peters collaborate to offer guests the bounty of peak produce prepared to show off its essential nature. This unique offering combines the intimate relationship Cordrey has cultivated with every vegetable on his farm with Peters extensive restaurant and cooking experience, most recently of the esteemed Pangaea Restaurant in Gualala. The pair uses as much as they can from OZ Farm, including fruits, vegetables, eggs, chickens, and goat milk and cheese, then they seek out local producers of wine, cheese and meat to round out the menu.

Last fall guests enjoyed fermented cider in the orchard, appetizers on the veranda, dinner in the restored barn amid bouquets of OZ flowers and local wines throughout. This year farm dinners are scheduled for June 16, August 25 and October 13. OZ Farm is offering a limited number of cabins for those who wish to stay overnight on the farm and enjoy a continental breakfast the following morning.

As it has for the past 15 years, OZ Farm opens its rustic and beautiful facilities from April through October for organized retreats, family reunions, birthday and wedding celebration, and Yoga, Tai Chi, meditation, cooking and artist workshops. Owners John and Molly Hooper are dedicated to stewarding this special stretch of land and sharing it with others who appreciate the seclusion of an off-the-grid organic farm and retreat center nestled in a river valley.
