Everyday Miracles: The Perfect Mother's Day Gift

By Carla Perez, MD

Carla Perez, pioneering radio talk therapist, offers down-to-earth solutions to everyday problems. We love the following excerpt from her book, Without Clothes We're All Naked, and think you will, too:

A woman called my radio talk show to tell me that her family had asked what she would like for Mother's Day. After some thought she replied, "I'd like to go to the park with all of you and play baseball, only this time I get to be at bat as long as I want."

She said her family followed through with flying colors. Other than a small stint in the field, she remained at bat for a couple of hours, experiencing a magnificent, memorable Mother's Day. Though her wish was granted on one special day, life can be a chain of special days, each filled with endless possibilities.

In The Second Coming, Walker Percy stated, "Not once had he been present for his life. So his life had passed like a dream. Is it possible for people to miss their lives in the same way one misses a plane? And how is it that death, the nearness of death, can restore a missed life?"

Life is too short. don't put off what you want to do until "someday" which may not come.
