A Moment of Bliss At Shibui Gardens

Shibui Gardens in San Anselmo offers stress relief in the heart of the Bay Area.

As a Baby Boomer "Change the World before 2012" peace lover, it was important to me to have a career that would contribute to the well-being of the planet, if not some level of transformation of the individual. After three college degrees and some soul searching, I abandoned the psychological approach in favor of the physical.

Why? Because the body has no limits! It is the seat of the soul, the door to the heart and the abode of the Divine. Psychological issues melt, physical concerns can reorganize and reset, emotional issues can release and expand into their original energy - bliss!

After receiving my first bodywork session, I knew I wanted to be a bodyworker. It was holistic, it was intimate, a space where something holy could arise, and where healing could happen. Even if something profound didn't occur, at the very least, it felt incredibly good, was relaxing, fun, and everyone left rosy-cheeked and happy!

Why Shibui Gardens after trying so many other places to work? Easy. Shibui is casual, it's unpretentious, it has a wonderful garden, the rooms have windows for fresh air, and it offers uncanny freedom. The hotels, physical therapy and chiropractic offices, the health centers and massage clinics were okay - they provided a solid foundation for learning, but when it was time to make a long-term choice, it was Shibui. That's why I've been there over 20 years, and I'm not the only one! There are many excellent therapists (like me) who have made this rustic little haven their home away from home.
