VoiceMedia Grads Heard Nationwide!
VoiceMedia/Susan & Friends Casting has studios in both San Francisco and Walnut Creek. This longtime lister can be found in OPEN EXCHANGE's Media category. Talking Toys, Super Saturday Sales, marked up scripts, and dark recording studios are all part of of a voice-over actors life. The dream of being a voice-over actor has become a reality for many local talents under the guidance of Susan McCollom of VoiceMedia/Susan & Friends Casting. Former student Thesally Lerner paid her V.O. dues in San Francisco and now works in LA. Her unique childlike voice has made her a favorite of companies such as Leap Frog Toys in Emeryville, and Electronic Arts in Redwood City. She can be heard talking gibberish as part of the The Sims Family on Electronic Arts CD-ROM of the same name. Phil Sheridan, another former student, can also be heard as part of that family. Thessaly's latest triumph is one that every talent aspires to. Disney has cast her in their new "Cat and The Canary" animated feature film due out in 2007. Thessaly says "Susan has been an amazing mentor and I wouldn't be here with out her." El Cerrito resident, Adam Harrington was relentless about pursuing voice-over after reading about Susan's classes in a local newspaper. "I'd call it just short of stalking," laughed Susan. "He stood on my doorstep with his long ponytail and baseball cap, rang my doorbell and with newspaper article in hand said, 'I can do this!' He has a great sounding voice, or fabulous pipes as we call them." said Susan. Adam can be heard pitching T.V. commercials for clients such as Masterpiece BBQ Sauce, Infinion Raceway,The Discovery Channel and on many of the adventure CD-Rom games produced in the Bay Area. A few years back, Concord native, Carlos Alazraqui transferred his skill as a stand up comedian to voice-over acting. He produced his first demo with VoiceMedia and said "Susan has been instrumental in opening doors". He moved to L.A. where he booked the TACO BELL commercial as the memorable voice of the Chihuahua saying "Yo quiero, Taco Bell!" He continues to work on cartoon series, animated features and still manages to perform his standup around the country. The success stories go on and on. Susan said "Mentoring such talented people brings me great joy!" When she's not coaching, casting or recording other people, she can be heard nationwide as the radio spokesperson for Albertson's supermarkets. |
