Embracing the Sacred Feminine
Dana Delong and Ashanna Solaris are Clarity Breathwork Practitioners and Trainers with a passion for the Sacred Feminine. They have led women's circles and healing retreats for 16 years. The Sacred Feminine is awakening from a deep place within us. She is calling us to remember who we truly are. For we have lived in a world that has been out of balance, dominated by the misuse of power rather than authentic power. Many of us have felt cut off and separate from life, love, nature, and our natural instincts. Through thousands of years of denial of the feminine, and a paradigm of religion that puts God outside of the worldwe have been infused with the belief that we are guilty, bad, separate from the divine, each other, ourselves, and the world. The Course in Miracles says that "the only thing that needs to be healed is your imagined belief in separation." There is an absolute necessity for us as women and men to embrace the Sacred Feminine and bring it back into balance in our lives and the world. To honor the Sacred Feminine is to reconnect with a source of nurturance, love, and power which honors and respects all of life. 9/11 marked for us a time of the end of patriarchy with the falling of the towers of greed & corruption. It was a powerful archetypal symbol in our collective dreamtime demanding change. The Hindu religion refers to this time in history as the Kali Yuga era-- a time when the minds of men go insane. It is said that the only power great enough to heal the world will be the Divine Mother/Sacred Feminine energy. We are in the midst of a healing emergence from the denial and suppression of the femininethrough hatred of our bodies, our sexuality, the earth and life itself. One of the most impactful ways that we have seen this played out in our culture is in the history of birth. Until relatively recently, it was women who were responsible for supporting the natural process of birth. These women were revered and honored in their communities as midwives and healers. Several hundred years ago there began a genocide of women that spanned three centuries, where highest estimates say that 11 million women were killed for their healing knowledge. Men took over the birthing process. Women were placed in hospitals rather than giving birth in a natural environment supported by their sisters. This has manifested in our lifetime as birthing practices that have largely ignored the natural power and instinct of mothers. Many of us were born in sterile hospital rooms, with our mothers drugged, legs in stirrups, and umbilical cord cut too soon-- much of this for the convenience of the doctor. We were often separated from our mothers right after birth and put into "isolates." Breastfeeding was also discouraged. No wonder many of us feel separate and cut off from powerful feminine energy and love--her fierceness and strength, nurturance and presence, all withheld. Birth is significant because it is when the first impressions of life are formed. The impact of separation at birth and disconnection from the powerful feminine can be seen everywhere around us and felt in our own searching for love and comfort outside of ourselves. Fortunately we are a remarkably resilient species and all things can be healed by the power of our love. It is important in the process of healing and awakening to understand the imprints that have most profoundly impacted us. The suppression of the feminine energy through birth and religion has added greatly to our sense of separateness. The Sacred Feminine energy is beyond nationality, race, religion and even form, for she lives in every cell of our magnificent bodies. When we are in touch with her living and breathing inside of us we cannot harm the earth, ourselves, or each other. Instead we live from a deep place of reverence and respect for all the myriad ways she manifests. She is the very spark of creation itself. Nothing would exist without her. Call on this energy to help you in your journey of healing the wounds of separation from history and birth, and reclaiming your innate connection to all that is. |
