The Ohlone Center of Herbal Studies is an earth-centered herbal medicine school. The mission of the school is to keep Western herbal knowledge alive by bringing medicinal knowledge of plants to people, empowering their ability to heal through their use. The program emphasizes hand on learning and using local available plants when possible. A variety of classes are offered from herb walks and short workshops to a formal Clinical Herbalist training program. Class are small, interactive, and stress environmental sustainability and consciousness.

Along with on-going community education the school is committed to educating healers in successful careers as Herbalists and/or Herbal Educators. Clinical Herbalist training program is offered in tracks: Apprenticeship, Therapeutic and Clinic Internship.

In Therapeutic class study of disease and disease processes are explored in a deeper physiological and emotional way. Western constitutional theory is applied to client situations. This track prepares students to think quickly and have confidence in formulating herbal remedies.

Clinical Internship is the final section of Clinical Herbalist training program. Students learn how to create effective business plans, learn to conduct client interviews, make and mix herbal remedies, research cases, devise treatment plans, and manage case loads. Interns supervised by a senior staff person run a herbal clinic. Students, who complete this three track program, leave with a clear understanding how to set up, promote and run a successful herbal practice.
