National Holistic Institute Teaches Professional Massage Therapy At New San Francisco Campus

Now with campuses in San Francisco, Emeryville, San Jose, and Petaluma, training with National Holistic Institute has never been more convenient.

One of the nation's best massage schools, the National Holistic Institute (NHI) has long been a Bay Area institution since beginning classes in 1979 in Oakland. It was the first massage school in California to be nationally accredited and to offer students access to federal financial aid grants and loans. NHI was also a pioneer in starting a comprehensive, one-year professional training program that has become the standard across the country. After the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, NHI founded the Massage Emergency Rescue Team (MERT) that is now standard procedure for natural disaster recovery efforts nationwide.

"San Franciscans have been interested in attending school at the National Holistic Institute for a long time," said Tim Veitzer, campus manager for the San Francisco campus. "We're very excited to bring our training program and massage clinic to the heart of the Bay Area. And many employers have already been asking when our first classes will graduate so they can start interviewing!"

Jobs in massage therapy and the hospitality field continue to grow. The U.S. Department of Education projects that massage therapy jobs will grow faster than the national average and they expect the industry to grow at between 21 and 35% through 2012. The spa industry has been growing and is expected to continue to grow as the baby boomers retire and look for complementary health care. Several NHI graduates have started successful Bay Area spa and hospitality businesses.
