Ballroom Dance Teachers College

If you are interested in exploring a career in ballroom dancing, Ballroom Dance Teachers College can train you for a career you'll love, no matter what your age or previous dance experience.

Catherine Medeiros is a successful and inspiring graduate of Ballroom Dance Teachers College. She started ballroom dancing in 2002, and her talent was evident after just a few lessons. Already a busy mother of two who worked part-time as a school teacher, she wasn't looking for a new career. But her love of dance spurred her on.

This quest brought Cathy to Ballroom Dance Teachers College (BDTC) for a 2005 Intensive. At BDTC, Cathy learned how to teach and dance both the leader and the follower's parts of several Ballroom, Latin and Swing dances. She learned how to break down each dance figure into its component technical elements, and how to convey musicality, partnership, and physical grace to students with little or no dance background.

Cathy was such at stellar student at the BDTC Intensive that she went on to take her professional certification exams from DVIDA, one of the top certifying organizations in the country. No surprise to us, she passed with flying colors!

Now Cathy has built a dance studio in her Stockton home and teaches private lessons and group classes to students from all over the greater Stockton area. Cathy regularly travels with her students to competitions and dance events all over the western United States. She is the only working instructor in her area with professional certification credentials, which makes us very proud. She is helping to raise the standards of professionalism within the ballroom world and has found a profession she truly loves. And her students are very grateful to have found her!
