Awaken Thru Pleasure, Power & Passion

By Mary Mahima Moore

Mary Mahima Moore, longtime OPEN EXCHANGE lister, offers bodywork that is both therapeutic and sensual.

We can experience pleasure in a thousand ways. We need to and we can. Pleasure is all about coming from a place of centeredness and being empowered. It is also being vulnerable and open. So much love and passion is up to you!

I think most all of us believe sex is spiritual. How can we not? A new, yet old concept of sex as medicine is part of the path of tantra. We can choose to use sex (or sexual energy) as a tool toward uniting us with the Divine Creator.

How do we get there? Through the breath and movement anyone can achieve this orgasmic flow. We do not even need a partner, although in bliss flow tantra yoga it can be practiced with two or three participants or by oneself. This is about using sexual energy from the bottoms of the feet through to the crown chakra at the top of the head. Often guidance is necessary to achieve these higher realms of sexual awakenings.

We know practice makes perfect. My personal practice includes breathing with sound and moving in a specific way causing endorphins to rush through my body. This could be considered an esoteric perspective, and here is what others say who have followed this path:

"Spirituality is as much about the body as it is about the soul. As we awaken our bodies we awaken our spirits. Our bodies are the sacred facilitators for spiritual growth and realization."—Norm, ordained minister for 31 years

"[Combining sex and spirituality] I became open and free and more awake than ever in my life. I am blessed to have been Divinely guided to this work.—S. Halpern, San Anselmo

"I have freed myself from destructive relationships, unhappy work situations, and many unconscious ways of being. My life is now one of growth and movement toward divine union."—Vajra

So—practice, practice, practice and have fun!
