Prediction For The New Year: 2007 –
The Year Of The Fire Boar

This year the New Moon signals the beginning of the Lunar New Year on February 18th, 2007, the Year of the Fire Boar. (USA: February 17th, 2007). The reason for the late New Year in 2007 is because the year 2006 had an extra lunar month - double 7th lunar month (leap month). With Yin Fire sitting on top of Yang Water, this year could bring out some 'hot steam.'

Fire and Water are opposite elements, so it is expected that conflicts are likely in the coming year. However, when unopposed, Fire (winter Sun) could be peacefully shining (reflecting) on Water (lake or ocean).

The Boar's stem also contains Wood, which can mediate between the opposite energies (Fire and Water), to prevent any 'Hot Steam' to develop. Unlike last year's Yang Fire, the heat of yin Fire in 2007 will not be as significant. The Water below also mitigates the power of yin Fire, so those needing more Fire in their lives will be helped – but to a lesser degree. Yang Fire in 2006 symbolized the power of the Sun, representing more openness, optimism and spiritual awakening.

The negative aspects of Yin fire in 2007 could bring tension, temperamental emotions, agitation, and illusions. It could lead people into false beliefs and information (Water) and act on an impulse (spark of Yin Fire) and cause more damage. Therefore conflicts and attacks could increase on a global or local level. As Fire is usually conquered by Water, it can be hoped that a lot of existing conflicts will diminish. Wood and Water as mitigating elements could help advance diplomatic solutions and quiet the 'Fire of fundamentalists. The last Yin Fire Boar year in 1947 shortly after WWII was the year of Hiroshima, the year of the creation of the new State of Israel, and the official beginning of the 'Cold War'.

The year of the Boar brings us closer to our emotions, as the courageous Boar will conduct almost everything through powerful, sometimes intense emotions. The key to achieve success in the coming year is to understand our emotions and the emotional motivations of others.

The year 2006, the year of the Yang Fire Dog, was symbolic as the "Gate of Hell" in the system of "Four Pillars of Destiny". Yang Fire opened our eyes to many spiritual truths and uncovered the veil of illusions and fears. The year of the Fire Boar takes us a step further: it will bring us into the physical realm of our emotions, while helping to transcend our fears.

The Boar's dominant element remains Water, symbolic of 'flow': travel, sales and communication. The travel industry (especially travel by sea) can experience a boost, along with increased optimism in the retail industries. The optimistic, hard-working Boar wants everyone to have share in the good life, so we can expect more optimistic investment strategies, which will help the stock market, The first half of the year could bring too much optimism that can prove to be illusionary by the Fall season. Labor unions could get a new wind to organize and increase their memberships, for the first time in many years.

As we get closer to the Year of the Earth Rat, in 2008, more realistic, practical steps will prove to be more useful, instead of riding the markets on pure speculation. Still, in 2007 the dominant Water element of the Fire Boar helps Earth-related industries: Real Estate markets could see great improvements all year, including property, hotel, mining and insurance-related businesses all do well in the New Year. Wood-related industries, such as Fashion, textiles, logging, furniture and planning could remain strong as well.

Yin Fire 'conquers' the Metal-related industries: financial markets, banking, auto, manufacturing, etc...In these industries there will be increased competition that could lead to restructuring so less profits can be expected. The high-tech industries, ruled by Metal can see some more productivity as more new inventions and improvements can be expected. The Internet will undergo more dramatic changes and news and information could become more widely available to the greater masses than ever before.

Speculations about spying and secret information could 'back-fire' in the year of the Boar, as these 'secret' operations are opposite of the open-minded, open hearted Boar. The News media may find itself in the 'cross-fire' as more people turn to alternative sources for their news, creating a need to bring reform to outdated media sources – such as newspapers, magazines, the radio and television industries.

The Fire Boar never fears the unknown. 2007 could be the year of great scientific discoveries and advances in the fields of medicine, biology, alternative therapies and space technologies. Fire Boars make some of the best friends, as they are generous with time, money and their kind heart. It is a well-known fact that Pigs bring good luck. Yes, it is true that Pigs are generally lucky, because of their great blind faith, perseverance, hard work and generosity. However, Pigs are famous for their bad temper - and in the case of the Fire Pig especially - their abrupt, pig-headed attitude that can bring them great harm. It can destroy all the hard-earned fortune in an instant. (OJ Simpson is a good example).

This year continues to be a Fire-ruled year, so those with heart problems, high blood pressure, weak kidney or liver should take precautions. The Pig loves to indulge in rich foods, so we may easily forget about our health. Do take extra steps to watch out for your self and your loved ones, so the yin Fire will not bring surprises in 2007. Incidentally, the dominant Flying Star in 2007 is the Yellow Earth Star 2 – often called the 'sickness' Star.

In summary: the year of the Fire Boar could bring mixed blessings. It will give us more hope and optimism on the one hand, which helps rebuild our confidence to take charge and repair the damage of the 'Great Fear' and pessimism of the past 5 years. The Boar will inspire all of us - rich or poor, young or old, regardless of color and background - to have faith and persevere against all odds.

If we watch our emotions and become more forgiving about the emotions of our fellow humans, we all could get along great in the year 2007.
