Use Conscious Language to Make
Healthy New Year's Resolutions

For the New Year why don't you stop making the same resolutions that you made last year and the years before? Think about how many times you admonished your self for not adhering to your fresh new intentions for the year. Yes, more than likely you failed again.

How about updating your language in favor of empowered, self-loving verbiage that makes you feel good about your self? What would that sound like and what would you do? Here are some suggestions:

  • Instead of saying I am going to lose 10 pounds, you can say, I am releasing 10 pounds. This way you won't be looking for those lost pounds again.
  • Eliminate the words try, should, and don't know. These are disempowering words. You can substitute will for try, make should into choose, and substitute I don't know into I am asking for clarity.
  • Stop reaffirming the negative about your self and your body. If you eat chocolate bless it. Bless your coffee. Bless all of the food you put into your mouth.
  • Eliminate the words Bad back, bad knee or bad anything about your body. As Candace Perth, a scientist and expert on the molecules of emotions says, "Your cells have intelligence and when you continue to make statements that something is bad in your body you are interfering with your healing." You can re-phrase the messages about your body to something like: My back is speaking to me; it needs healing, or love, or whatever you choose to say.
  • When you make a mistake stop calling your self stupid. When you put yourself down you are demeaning yourself. This is the antithesis of self-love. Resolve to send love to your body and to your self. Stop chastising your self when you make a mistake. If you were perfect you would not be living here on the Earth.
  • Stop saying words like; This is killing me, because that is exactly what you will be creating. If you find yourself speaking like this simply say, Cancel. Clear.
  • How about eliminating other phrases like This makes me sick, unless you want to create that for yourself. You can mention that you feel nauseated or that the energy does not feel good to you.
  • What about the use of strong language like hate? It is such a powerful word that when you use it you are creating a negative energy. Every word has power. Be mindful of how it feels when you speak that word.

By remembering the power of the spoken word you will begin to consciously use language to re-create your life. Perhaps by this time next year your life will be so much better that you won't need to make any new resolutions.
