Bauman College Trains Nutritionists & Natural Chefs

Bauman College, longtime OPEN EXCHANGE lister, is dedicated to "changing the world one bite at a time." Find out how you can start a lucrative and satisfying career as a Holistic Nutrition Consultant or Natural Chef. See our Schools & Certifications category.

Bauman College is changing the world... one bite at a time! The professional education provided in whole food nutrition is creating a culture of health and of purpose that crosses all boundaries. The curriculum, developed by Ed Bauman, PhD, is based on an innovative method, called "Eating for HealthTM", which uses healthy organic whole food cuisine to match an individual's genetic makeup, tastes, tolerances and health needs. The concepts and philosophy presented, comprehensive course work and lasting camaraderie formed in the classes provides a solid foundation for Bauman College graduates' work as Natural Chefs, Nutrition Educators and Nutrition Consultants. Here is what some of our graduates have to say:

Tara Doyle, NC writes: "Bauman College helped me build a foundation for my current business, Red Onion Nutrition Consulting, based in Berkeley, CA. I have a broad client base – from individuals to families and companies in the Bay Area and beyond. During the rigorous and exciting two-year course curriculum, I gained extensive knowledge of nutrition, how the body is affected by foods, and concrete methods of putting this knowledge into action."

From a balancing diet to a building diet, using all categories of food, I use the Eating for HealthTM model to educate and adapt diet requirements for various clients. Its guidelines are flexible enough to support an individual over time on her/his path to health. I want to educate the public on what it means to live a healthy lifestyle, starting with Eating for Health!"

Sally Stewart, NC, has owned the Southern Exposure Salon Day Spa in Mendocino, CA. for over 26 years. She says: "In my work, I have found wonderful ways to incorporate nutrition in with the spa beauty treatments, for true beauty comes from the inside out."

"I was fortunate to have studied nutrition and health at Bauman College. It helped me to organize my knowledge about the nutrition I already knew as well as incorporating new important nutrition research into a coherent usable system. In short, I learned how to effectively use organic, whole foods and herbs therapeutically and which foods fuel or affect each of the organs and systems of the body."

"In addition to the spa work that I do, I developed a business presentation called 'Cellular Nutrition' which I use to organize luncheon benefits for the Cancer Resource Center and Nutrition in the School. One of the projects funded from these benefits was planting apple and pear trees at the Mendocino high school with the kindergarten class. Eventually these kids will be able to eat fresh organic fruit from the trees they planted when they attend high school! I hope this project provides a sense of continuity in our Mendocino community that stretches out into the future from generation to generation. I also work with doctors to help find the interface between nutritional therapies and western medicine modalities."

Mike Peterson graduated as a Natural Chef in the spring of 2005. He writes: "I am a Canadian student who decided to set my sights on California and Bauman College. I feel I am getting the best of both worlds, cooking great healthy cuisine that I truly enjoy while helping others eat nourishing foods and educating them about health food choices. Once upon a time I believed that trained cooks only worked in restaurants. After developing a business plan in my class I realized there are many avenues available in this career. Many chefs believe that fine dining and food is all about the 'experience (service, atmosphere and the culinary rewards)' when visiting their restaurant. Eating for Health takes this approach one step further by considering how people feel after a meal!
