SpiralMuse: A 'Waking Woman' Retreat

By Marcele Eversole

Attend the next SpiralMuse Retreat in Santa Cruz this October.

What do the 80's hits, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and Like A Virgin have to do with today's 'new age' woman? Hmmm. Strategically rebellious? Perfect costume for the archetypal part? Fun, Angry, and Sexy? Although it's a bit humbling, more than 20 years later, if you distill most of our conversations down to their essence, what women are talking about, and still not confronting, is power, love, and sex. Are we simply afraid of owning how powerful we are?

It's time for a new conversation. Time for women to come together and authentically confront the topics that keep us from embodying and expressing our full potential. What does it mean to be a 'Waking Woman' and to take full responsibility for our personal expression of freedom in the world?

Instead of rubbing up against the next model of how to be a woman, let's begin asking questions and letting them go unanswered. Let's develop curiosity, the kind of curiosity about ourselves and the nature of our existence that stimulates radical thinking and an integration to propel ourselves forward. Let's gather in circles that push our edges of comfort because the truth is spoken. As we open to deeper levels of truth and vulnerability, let's shift our conversations so that our words powerfully support our personal and collective evolution.

The Chinese Proverb, "When Sleeping Women Wake, Mountains Move" is a reminder that the notion that women are the source of profound transformation is not new, but quite ancient. While no tool or formula can give us freedom, we can feed our fire. Join us to explore and confront what it means to be a 'Waking Women' and discover new perspectives on how we are evolving in the areas of leadership, safety, sensuality, and spirituality.
