MAD
About Bush
I am worried and fearful and in dire dread that our Free Constitutional Democracy is about to be lost forever destroyed!
Faced with the almost certainty of totally losing their power by an overriding wave of voter protest in the upcoming 2008 elections; and armed with National Security Presidential Directive NSPD-51 and Homeland Security Presidential Directive HSPD-20, which together give President Bush the power, to declare a "national emergency" on his authority alone without ratification by Congress...
I predict that another "national emergency," possibly worse than 9/11, will be carried out [soon], and that, as a result, President Bush will declare himself "Supreme Dictator" of the United States of America, canceling the upcoming 2008 elections, and turning our country into a Corporate/Fascist State! Now, you can either go back to burying your heads in the sand and let it happen, or you can do something about it!!
Check out the above Presidential Directives (almost completely ignored by our Mass Media!) and demand the Impeachment of George W. Bush and Richard Cheney!
MAD-ly yours,
Al Feldstein
Worry! A generation of media savvy, adolescent Baby Boomers grew up on MAD Magazine edited by Al Feldstein. You're in good company, Al. To quote Bill Christison, former CIA Analyst, "War with Iran is inevitable before January 2009 unless Bush and Cheney are both impeached first." Prominent constitutionalists (conservatives as well as progressives) argue for impeachment, if only to restore proper limits on the executive branch. Others argue that it's too late in the election cycle, and that there aren't enough votes in Congress to impeach. Assuming there is an election, who'll rein in the next president?
Cheap Electric Cars Today!
Thanks for the article on Solar-Electric Hybrids to reduce greenhouse gasses. Since 60% of smog is emitted by vehicles, it is great when folks choose to walk, bike and use public transit. There is an easier, affordable solution for the many people who will not or cannot change their lifestyles so drastically. It is not being publicized because the auto manufacturers prefer to sell more expensive, heavier vehicles.
Four years ago, I bought a new neighborhood electric vehicle for $3500 by phone from a dealer found at www.gemcar.com. It raises my PG&E bill a few dollars a month. I used to spend $80 a month on gas. Insurance rates are low. And Gem is less than half the price of the Zap Xebra you featured in your article.
Faces light up when folks see it. It is cuter than a bug, a fun ride, and fits in impossible parking spaces. I love it. A household extension cord powers it. The body and batteries are recyclable, so when we get solar panels on our home's roof, our Global Electric Motorcar (GEM) will be nearly 100% green. Saving money while saving the planet,

Phoebe, thanks for your suggestion and for making a personal commitment to sustainability. We focused on Zap's Xebra rather than Gem primarily because of Zap's built-in solar option, which doesn't require additional installation. However, for those who can afford the initial investment, rooftop solar panels are the way to go!
