Jay Apte and the Ayurveda Institute of America

Jay Apte, longtime OPEN EXCHANGE lister, is founder of the Ayurveda Institute of America, offering classes in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.

Dr. Jay Apte's vast knowledge of medicine embodies a marriage of Eastern and Western philosophies. Her 25 years of experience in Ayurvedic and Allopathic health care encompass private practice, research and development, and instruction. She received an integrated degree in Ayurvedic and Allopathic medicine and surgery from Poona University in India in 1973 and Master's degree in Pharmacology from the University of North Texas in 1990.

In the late 1980s, she established "Heath & Nature," an Ayurvedic clinic in Coppell (Dallas), Texas. Through diet and life-style modification and Ayurvedic therapy, she has helped thousands of patients from around the country suffering from a variety of chronic illnesses. Because of the increased demand from patients, she opened another office in Houston in mid-1990s and has continued to add innovative new services based on the traditional science of Ayurveda.

Dr. Jay Apte is a founder of Herb Supplement Company "Herbal Care" which develops, markets and distributes Ayurvedic supplements throughout US.

In 1999, she opened an educational institution "Ayurveda Institute of America" to teach Ayurveda to various medical professionals such as doctors, chiropractors, registered nurses and physician's assistants as well as others. Her goal is to offer Authentic Ayurvedic program here in US, so she has assembled an internationally renowned faculty with more than 15 years of individual experience in teaching and clinical practice.

The mission of the Institute is to train health professionals in Ayurvedic sciences so they can spread true health in all the levels of the society. She offers a wide array of Ayurvedic services through her clinics in Fremont, San Francisco, and Houston.
