At Foundation of the Sacred Stream

The Foundation of the Sacred Stream offers workshops and training programs that integrate ancient wisdom, spiritual, and healing traditions into contemporary therapeutic practice.

The Foundation's classes particularly appeal to students seeking deeper understanding of themselves and the world, as well as their own unique paths of healing and service.

The Transpersonal Studies Program is designed to help students understand the way in which ordinary features of their daily lives point to the potentials that exist beyond the definitions of a personal self. Students also learn how these potentials in turn can inform and enrich daily experience in practical and profound ways.

Alexis Cohen, birth and postpartum doula and Depth Hypnosis* practitioner, completed several courses in which the primary transpersonal potential addressed was that of the sacred feminine, personified as the "Great Mother."

*Depth Hypnosis is a therapeutic model developed by Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D., lead instructor of the Foundation of the Sacred Stream. It combines hypnotherapy, Buddhism, Shamanism, and transpersonal psychology.

In these classes Alexis learned about the nature of the sacred feminine and how to align with its power in times of transition and initiation. Alexis had the following to say about deepening her understanding of what she had learned while attending a birth:

"Thanks so much for the class this weekend. I wanted to share something so beautiful and amazing that I witnessed at the birth I attended last night and this morning. The mother I was working with was having difficulty making the transition from early labor to active labor. She was at 4 cm and she had been laboring for 3 days already. Then, there was this moment when I perceived the power of the Great Mother coming in and giving the woman a template of what is was to dilate to 7 cm, she put it around the woman's body so she could have this more expansive energetic body to grow into. The woman found it right away and grew into it, or matched it. The doctor checked her a few minutes afterward and she was 7cm dilated in about 4 hours of the first check of 4 cm. It was awesome to be able to perceive this occurring. I am consistently amazed with this work."
