Attract your ideal life much more quickly using this exercise...

By Lauren Marie Owen

The creator of this exercise, Life Coach Lauren Marie Owen, specializes in Confidence and Clarity.

This exercise, "Your Ideal Path," was created to give you an extra spring in your step, and a more focused attraction of your ideal life as you move forward!

All you need is a recording device and your voice. Now, record yourself telling the story to yourself, using the word "you," of how you got from where you are now to achieving the life of your dreams. Include all the parts of your plan as if it ran perfectly and as if you smoothly gained the goal you were seeking. Record it over and over until the story is pleasing, realistic, uplifting, and gives positive reasons for why things unfolded the way they did. Give yourself the praise you deserve! For instance, you can say that the book you wrote interested people because you have a brilliant way with words!

If you are going through a hardship or are going to go through one, explain the positive side of it, and set a pleasing frame of time during which the hardship ended (within a day, a week, etc.). It doesn't matter if things don't happen this way in real life because you will know that you did everything you could do, while still being true to yourself. The important part is to have the guiding light in the distance!

In total, this recording should be about five minutes long. Re-record it as many times as you need to, to make it pleasing to your ear! For an example, here are some parts of a recording for a fictional person:

"You were always insightful, kind, and interested in people's minds, so after years of exploring different careers, you decided to become a therapist. As you started therapy school you lost your house. [This sets the scene up to where you are now. Now, you can start to paint the picture of the path you want:] However, you moved to an excellent apartment within two weeks, which was closer to your school, and more affordable. This was easy for you because you have excellent house-hunting skills and landlords love you..."

After you have recorded it so that you've left nothing out, then, listen to it repeatedly—about 3 to 4 times per day. In my life coaching, I do a similar exercise with my clients, and help them compose the written story of their path and of their ideal lives. It's extremely affirming and helpful for them to bounce ideas off of me because I see a great deal of value in each and every person and I know they can do what they set their minds to!

And remember, even if your life doesn't unfold this way, when you have a clear picture of the way you want things to go, it is much, much easier to get there!
