There's a fascinating story about how you came to invent The Harwin Balancer. Please share it with our readers.

As a clinician and martial arts student for the last 40 years I have studied standing in various postures and situations. After watching an elderly man fall, I began thinking about what made him lose his balance. Was it that his ankles were weak, or was it a deeper intelligence that had broken down. In realizing that it was a communication breakdown in the body's intelligence, I started designing and building a standing platform that would engage the body in its natural upward lift from the ground.

You say that The Harwin Balancer strengthens the body's ability to balance when walking. How does it do this?

We become locked in our historical movement patterns by the dictates of our survival mechanism. The Harwin Balancer communicates with a higher, more subtle level of balance organization where the habitual locking of our body's history is softened allowing this higher, more effective intelligence to organize our movement with greater ease and stability. It does this through its ability to wake up a fuller range of proprioceptive activity, which is how the body knows where it is in relation to itself so that it can organize effective movement.

You have told us that you have sold The Harwin Balancer to clients in their 80s. Is there an upper age limit?

The Harwin Balancer is safe and effective for use by all ages, from young children to the elderly.

Would it be wise to use it when you are younger, before you are having balance problems?

The Harwin Balancer is helping with pain syndromes and balance problems. It is very helpful to use it as an effective addition to your workout before you ever have balance problems. It will pick up imbalances much too subtle for you to feel and proceed to change your patterning to correct them before they become a bother in your life. It is important to note that balance problems have many different causes. Using The Harwin Balancer to prevent balance problems in some cases will do just that. In more serious problems it will help to soften or slow the debilitating process.

Does The Harwin Balancer help any other condition besides balance?

Yes. The Harwin Balancer has been repeatedly demonstrated to be an effective tool in reducing pain from a variety of injuries, including those of the knee, ankle, back, neck and shoulder.

After they have purchased it, what frequency and duration of each session should a user commit to have the most success with The Harwin Balancer?

10-15 minutes twice a day is all that is needed to get the best results.

What length of time does it take to feel a change in your balance during walking? Is it immediate, in a day, a week, a month, more?

Most people feel a significant change in their balance and confidence when walking after their first use. Even people with serious conditions, e.g. M.S., C.P., and Parkinson's can experience some change from the beginning. There are also cases where the patient won't feel the change, but their therapist sees significant change occurring. It works the same for all, but some people feel their body more than others.

Have you had wheelchair users who are not paraplegics find success with The Harwin Balancer? How might this work?

The only requirement for using The Harwin Balancer is being able to stand on it for brief periods. Some will need to grip the rails for stability, while others will be able to stand without using the rails at all. It will help both. As mentioned earlier the quickness of results depends in part on the depth or level of damage caused by a person's condition. I have repeatedly seen The Harwin Balancer work immediately with very serious and chronic conditions.

Is there a value to using The Harwin Balancer for dancers, runners, and other athletes who may want to strengthen their legs?

All athletes, regardless of the sport, will gain great benefit from using The Harwin Balancer. As a serious martial arts student myself, I find that not only do my injuries heal faster, but my body's learning curve is significantly more effective by using the Harwin Balancer. I learn faster, perform at a higher level, and have greater stamina when I use The Harwin Balancer. Others report the same experience.
