How is it possible to keep yourself in a positive state with all that's going on in the world right now? Do you ever get pulled into the undertow of negative news? Or you may find that it's not the world you're thinking about. It's thoughts about your own challenges and hurdles that flow ceaselessly through your deep inner mind.

Here are some suggestions for handling any kind of difficult thoughts or feelings.

Move Your Mind to a Higher Plane

You may begin to contemplate the worst, but then you have the kind of mind that doesn't stay there. You can move your mind to a higher plane after paying attention to the doom thoughts first. You can transcend the quicksand's pull and move to higher ground. One way to do this is to observe your thoughts and feelings from the state of the witness and then ask this healing question: "What would my Wise Mind tell me about this?" Almost inevitably, you will be led to an oasis of transformational thinking that will help you to view the siltation from a higher perspective.

Look at the Opportunities

You can also view events that take place as opportunities for learning and enlightenment. Seeing the advantage of everything is a way to have a happy life, no matter what's taking place. Years ago, when I didn't have a place to live for a while, a poet came up to me and said, "Since my house burned down, now I have a better view of the rising moon." There are spiritual gifts in everything, and the moment you see everything from the point of view of the mountaintop, you can look to the essential truths of transformation inherent in all things and events.

Give Thanks in Advance

Here's another idea. If you have a tendency to worry or feel anxious, you can say, "I give thanks for my____." The thanks might be for your perfect work or your great diagnosis or your burgeoning bank account. Just say it over and over. It can work as a method of mind-creation. At the very least, it feels better than its gloomy alternative.

Look at the Panoramic Global Picture

Some sages and prophets see in our times, that we are entering the Golden Age of life on earth and that the challenging events of our time are but the cleansing of all life on this planet. Because the light is growing stronger, it reveals the gremlins and dark spaces that are in the process of moving away.

Cultivate Acceptance and Transformation

Eckhart Tolle says that he's fine no matter what happens. The secret to his equanimity and happiness is this "I accept things as they are." In addition to this, some people like to do another step: transform whatever they accept. This may mean that you accept the way things are and then move forward to imagine them in their fullest potential. You may even take action with calmness, grace, creativity, and vision.
