OPEN EXCHANGE: An Open Door

By Karen Pearle

Karen Pearle, longtime OPEN EXCHANGE lister, offers Body Centered Therapy / Chi Nei Tsang Bodywork in our Bodywork Therapies category.

I began to advertise in OPEN EXCHANGE as a relatively new practitioner. Now, as a longtime lister it's staggering to realize the impact my listing in OE has had on my life. Sometimes I feel as if I know some of the other listers even though I've never met them. And when I do meet some of them it has been an exciting experience. A few have become life-long friends.

The articles in the beginning of the mag to alert and inform the readers, the energizing covers... I'm glad to be a part of this exchange of talents and wisdom. Am I gushing too much?

This is an exciting (and challenging) time of change and my own change and growth has made me eager to help others to evolve into being more of themselves, to work through the obstacles, emotionally and physically so that their hearts can open to work, share and be in deeper connection with all of life.

I view my practice as an open door for people who want to heal. And when people complete their work with me—however long—they go through that door to where they need to go. In my mind and heart I stand at the entrance to the door, welcoming people. I appreciate the earnestness of the people I have worked with: some in the depths of pain and confusion. I know each person is a gold mine of possibility and each contain the ability to heal and grow beyond what the mind can conceive as possible.

Helping people to discover or deepen their creativity has also been my passion. And sometimes my clients, after a creative breakthrough, have gone back to OE to find teachers of dance, music, art and writing.

At this threshold of a new and creative era, there are more doors opening, more ways of exchanging and sharing with one another. It's a good time to be alive.
