Well-known jeweler and metalsmith, Peter Ostwald, is offering classes in jewelry-making in his fully equipped and beautifully lit shop in Oakland.

You can learn to design and produce professional-level jewelry: rings, pendants, earrings, as well as fine objects and gifts such as letter-openers, boxes, baby spoons and picture frames.

Techniques taught will include all standard silver-smithing techniques such as stone-setting, soldering, riveting, wire-work, piercing, lamination.

Peter specializes in introducing beginners to these techniques. More experienced students are also welcome.

Peter Ostwald has sold metal sculpture as well as jewelry to such stores as I. Magnin, Saks Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue's Kreuger Gallery and the Oakland Museum. He's taught jewelry classes at the Richmond Art Center and Sierra Nevada College and Piedmont Adult School among other institutions.
