San Francisco School of Massage offers a total of 732 hours in Eastern and Western bodywork therapies. We have been training massage therapists for 30 years, and have earned an international reputation for quality training. Our programs are designed in a "progressive" format to fit the individual needs of our students.

All our courses are approved by State of California Bureau for Private Post secondary and Vocational Education, and additionally, The Board of Registered Nurses, provider number CEP 4412, and the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP). Students will receive a certificate after completing all school and state requirements for a course.

Swedish Massage Practitioner (BASIC)
Ongoing Program 102 hours

This professional program offers a firm foundation in Swedish massage with techniques that relax and revitalize muscle tissue, methods for clear verbal communication with clients, as well as marketing, ethics and anatomy and a strong emphasis on body mechanics. The format features a flexible ongoing schedule that enables students to tailor their school schedule to their personal needs. We enroll every two weeks, completing the program in 8, 12, 17 weeks depending on the schedule you choose.

Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Afternoon classes are 2-5 pm and evening from 6:30-9:30pm

Swedish Massage Intensive Programs
102 hours (BASIC)
August 15 through August 29
Fall: October 20 through November 3

This popular program enables the student to receive a certificate in just TWO WEEKS by going full time, 8 hours a day! Same outstanding instructors and material as in the on-going program.

Massage Therapist Program (INTERMEDIATE)
Pre-requisite 103 hour basic Swedish Program
September 4 through December 11

Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6-9:30pm

Our 103 hour Massage Therapist Program is dedicated to developing professional massage therapists. This course threads muscle function with palpatation, visual assessment, communication skills and anatomy. Working in a Swedish format, students will utilize new knowledge of posture and muscle function to inform their massage work, applying strokes and new techniques with a specifically therapeutic intent and approach.

Advanced Bodywork Therapist 201 hours
July 11 through November 19

This four month program is designed for bodyworkers who have completed a 100-hour Swedish program, and are ready for the next level of training. Students will increase their effectiveness as practitioners and their marketable skills in the field of massage. Course includes Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Functional Anatomy, Ortho-Bionomy, and Mentorship with instructor throughout the program.

Zen Shiatsu Practitioner 115 hour program
Monday and Thursdays from 1-4pm

This Professional training program teaches traditional Zen Shiatsu, an Asian form of therapeutic bodywork focusing on balancing the vital energy or "ki" of the body. By balancing the flow of energy through the network of "meridians" physical and emotional health can be achieved and maintained. This comprehensive course includes Hara, full body sequence. Yin Yang and Five Elements Theory, centering and grounding skills, anatomy, marketing and ethics.

Continuing Education Workshops:
